Primal : Khaos Helmet designs

With the armour designs, I was trying to look at influences that I haven't seen referenced as often in armour concepts. I happen to have a brilliant book on African Art from an exhibition I saw at the Royal Academy back when I was a wee lad. The masks at that exhibition made a big impression on me, as they looked unlike any faces I'd seen anywhere else, in fact or fiction. You'll see a few references in the characters I created in the Refugees pieces that I exhibited in Fantasy and Imagination and Different Worlds exhibitions.

I looked at a few modern helmet and mask images to incorporate into the designs, and away I went.

I made 2 variations of the design, based on the mask in the bottom right corner of the sketches. One is for the Warden (marine), and the other is for the Arbalest (sniper).

And again, here are the 3-D models (which are still a work in progress, as they have yet to be textured), with the designs turned into solid objects. Look at them! They're cool. I'm genuinely excited by them.

So, that's this helmet (so far). Subscribe to the newsletter, and follow me on Tumblr, Facebook and/or Twitter so you don't miss the next update!
